OUR IDENTITY

CORE VALUES

Our firm is drawn to certain ways of being and doing that resonate with what we think is important. Some of these values are:

  • Integrity: Doing our best to say what we mean and mean what we say

  • Substance: Doing what we can to contribute meaningfully to the lives of those we touch

  • Purpose: Doing what we do with a clear direction and reason for each action

  • Beauty: Seeking to create quality design that is innately beautiful aesthetically

  • Function: Believing that meeting practical needs well is inherent to good design

HISTORY

Since 1986, Williams Architecture (formerly Foster & Williams Architects) has been serving our regional community with quality design for both homes and commercial buildings. We have helped a broad spectrum of clients with personalized designs suited to our community and region. Our small staff size allows for great communication, attention to detail, and quality of work, while keeping costs manageable for projects big and small. Across southern Puget Sound and Olympic Peninsula, there are hundreds of homes of all sizes, styles, and budgets designed by our office; many on beautiful view or waterfront sites common in our area. Recognizable downtown Shelton commercial buildings include the Shelton Civic Center, William G. Reed Library, Peninsula Credit Union, and numerous churches. In north Mason County, the Belfair HUB Senior Center anchors that community. Most recently, Williams Architecture designed the new Shelton Family YMCA to serve this region.

DEEP CONNECTIONS

Collaboration is critical to the process of design and construction; and usually, that collaboration happens best in the context of strong relationships. Proximity usually helps relationships grow, so for this reason, we have kept our focus on projects in our general location, working with new and repeat clients and contractors building in the South Puget Sound area of Washington state. We love our community and region, work regularly with its permitting agencies, and believe it is one of the best places to be from and do business in!

PERSONAL TOUCH

We are a small firm, both in staff size, and with the projects we tend to focus on. We like this approach because it enables our Principal Architect, Len Williams, to have a close connection and supervision relationship with every project, whether it is our smallest bathroom remodel, or our largest commercial building. Overall, we believe this improves quality and continuity throughout the project phases, from Pre-Design to Construction, resulting in more consistent service for our clients, and a better project.

DISTINCTIVE SERVICE

Especially in smaller communities like ours, not every project is blessed with the budget or opportunity to win design awards.  However, every project deserves to be treated with respect, and provided with services that are tailored to the specific needs of each client. This is our goal, no matter the size or budget or potential for a design statement. We are committed to quality service for each client and project.
